The summer 2024 season is upon us, and there is a feeling of excitement and revival in our soccer program this year. An excitement rooted in positive change and improvement in the quality of soccer programming our community deserves. We acknowledge and understand past shortcomings and are thankful for the community’s input and patience demonstrated over these past few years. Soccer des Collines is committed to bringing a program to the Outaouais region that we can all be proud of.
At our annual assembly in December 2023, we shared our review of the year. Some areas for improvement discussed included team selection processes, technical support for coaches, practice management (i.e., U9-12 CDC+) and overall communication with club members. It’s clear, the board of directors and volunteers need the additional support of funded expertise to build a more sustainable and positive environment.
Since the annual assembly, we have taken tangible steps to address some of our immediate needs, but also to evaluate longer-term goals to create a sustainable organization and positive culture. These steps will allow the Club to operate more effectively without a dependency on the board and provide our kids and volunteers the support that they need to succeed for years to come.
Resourcing improvements include the hiring of a temporary consultant to help restructure the organization and of new Technical and Sporting Directors with the same passion and level of commitment of our dedicated coaches and players that will be supported by eight board members volunteering their time and expertise. On the operational side, we plan to increase the number of technical staff at practices, and we modified the 2024 program to avoid having activities occur in multiple locations at the same time.
Positive changes to improve the Club involve everyone and we are looking forward to continuing dialogue with our valued membership throughout the year. Look for future communications from the board on how we can continue to receive your ideas and ongoing feedback.
